A spectacular 600 bedroom luxury five star resort hotel in Dubai was built in a sweeping 26 storey nautical style by local contractor Al Habtoor. RMD Kwikform UAE was involved with the project from the early stages of planning the formwork system Roomform, to be used for the construction of all the rooms.
RMD Kwikform Roomform was designed specifically hotel, apartment and hostel applications, enabling walls, soffits and wall kickers to be constructed in one pouring operation, with a maximum allowable concrete pressure of 50kN/m2.
The steel faced, L-shaped form sections are joined together with quick release spring clips and the wall and slab stop end adjusted to the required wall length. The assembled forms can be removed from the finished room, left joined together in suitable lengths and crane handled to the next level using a specially designed lifting hook to pick up on the centre of gravity.
For the Jumeriah Beach Hotel project, RMD Kwikform designed special slab stop ends to cater for the convex and concave curve on plan. The Roomform system has also accommodated step level balconies and rooms that taper on plan. A special form was also supplied to fit into a 150mm wide expansion joint.
RMD Kwikform was involved with Al Habtoor in the formwork concept and planning since the start of the project, through to providing assistance on the initial assembly and use of the Roomform system, to ensure an efficient operation was maintained.
