Concrete works on the twin Trump Towers residential development in Kalyani Nagar in the eastern region of Pune, in India, have been successfully completed, thanks to the use of formwork and shoring solutions from RMD Kwikform.
Representing the first Trump project in the whole of India, the 25 storey glass clad Trump Towers will house a mixture of business, leisure and residential facilities. Rising 23 storeys above ground level, with two further storeys for car parking, the concrete works for the two towers have been constructed by Millennium Engineers and Contractors PVT Ltd. (MECPL), using a specially designed Rapidclimb climbing formwork system, from RMD Kwikform.
To support the construction and second fixing of the towers as the Rapidclimb formwork was moved from one pour to the next, RMD Kwikform engineers designed a solution with an extra wide external platform. This allowed for a greater number of site staff to work on the project safely, whilst supporting safer access to a further external trailing platform for second fixing.
With the Rapidclimb system able to be assembled at ground level and lifted into place by onsite cranage, the site team was able to join up to 16 sections together, to create a complete wall formwork solution for each tower.
With a wall thickness of 300mm and panels measuring 3.6m tall, covering an area of 560sqm, the formwork solution had to support the three phases of operation, namely rebar fixing, the concrete pour and final finish. This meant the whole solution had to be designed two storeys above pour level.
In addition to the exterior platform, RMD Kwikform used its Klik Klak system to support the internal platform, integrating the whole system, whilst ensuring safe working throughout the construction phase. The internal and external platforms allowed workers to safely remove ties and insert anchor screws, to support the lifting of the Rapidclimb system from one pour to the next.
Commenting on the project, RMD Kwikform sales director Bunesh Nawar said: “This was a very prestigious project for MECPL, so the business was very conscious of meeting the tight timescales for the delivery of the overall concrete works. With quality and speed key to the overall solution, we were able to introduce the team to our Rapidclimb formwork system. Having no previous experience of the Rapidclimb system, as part of our support for the project, we provided site technicians to train the erection teams and oversee the critical phases of the project.
“This support enabled MECPL to speed up the overall construction process and by adopting the Rapidclimb system approach, they had the ability to create a complete wrap around solution, enabling the team to progress really quickly with the project.”
Following the successful completion of the Trump Towers, residences are now able to enjoy the luxury surroundings and facilities that come with a five star development.
