Striking time for releasing Half Tunnel Formwork is dependent on the designed early strength of the cast concrete and is heavily influenced by the ambient climate. It is possible to strike and reposition Half Tunnel Formwork on a 24-hour cycle. In colder climates, it may prove effective to accelerate the concrete curing by the use of heaters or thermal blankets. Once the required concrete strength has been achieved, the reusable wall ties are removed. On wider rooms, central back propping to the floor slab may be required.
By releasing leveling jacks, the entire cell formwork is struck and lowered, central turnbuckles are released and banks of Half Tunnel units are rolled to the open end of the building where the C-Hook is attached. The formwork is removed for cleaning and repositioning, in preparation for the next cycle of construction.
