RMD Kwikform Shortlisted for Two Prestigious Irish Construction Excellence Awards
RMD Kwikform, a global leader in formwork, falsework and ground shoring solutions, has been shortlisted in two prestigious categories at the upcoming 2020 Irish Construction Excellence (ICE) Awards.
Taking place Saturday 28 March at the Convention Centre Dublin, the ICE Awards recognise and celebrate excellence across the Irish construction industry. RMD Kwikform is shortlisted in the ‘Construction Product Innovation’ category for its latest edge protection solution, Ascent 200, and the ‘Innovation in Construction Process’ category for its 3D visualisation software, LocusEye.
The latest evolution of RMD Kwikform’s award-winning Ascent safety screen system, Ascent 200 offers the next generation of edge protection for workers and the public on high-rise construction projects. For these builds, which typically take place in busy city centre environments, safety screen systems that can provide assured protection around the perimeter of the slab are essential, where even a bolt falling from height could potentially result in a serious incident.
One key feature of Ascent 200 is its strengthened mast soldier, which allows for a higher screen after the cantilever. This enables contractors to work on two wet deck levels, while providing the capability to cast columns on the second wet deck level. This reduces the number of screen lifts required and speeds up construction cycles. Other new features include a redesigned slab bracket to deliver more efficient work practices, a range of cladding options – including ones that offer advertising and branding opportunities – and hydraulic climbing capabilities to reduce the reliance on crane-assisted lifting.
Meanwhile, LocusEye was designed by RMD Kwikform to help support its customers during the pre-tender and build stages of a project. The software provides a high quality and realistic 3D visualisation of temporary works on a build, helping to break down any communication barriers and ensure transparency across the supply chain for any specified systems. The outcome is reduced risks, as any potential issues can be quickly identified by contractors when seeing the temporary works solution in-situ, and streamlined work processes, as the system itself and product details can be viewed in an accessible and easily digestible format.
Pat McGahan, Sales Director at RMD Kwikform, said: “We are thrilled to be shortlisted in two key categories at this year’s ICE Awards. The event is one of the highlights in the Irish construction industry’s calendar, providing an opportunity for the industry to showcase and reward best practice and the latest innovations.
“Ascent 200 has enjoyed incredible success since its launch at the end of 2019, and to be shortlisted for the ‘Construction Product Innovation’ award is testament to the design and development that has gone into this product. It combines the needs from contractors to improve cycle times and reduce costs with the highest possible standards of safety, protecting on-site workers and members of the public passing high-rise construction projects in busy city centres.
“LocusEye is our response to the industry’s demand for a technology-driven solution to help our customers view, interrogate and communicate with RMD Kwikform’s engineers about a project. The software has not only improved productivity and streamlined decisions across the supply chain but helped our customers to secure tenders for important projects too. We are therefore delighted that it has been shortlisted for the ‘Innovation in Construction Process’ award.
“We are very much looking forward to the award’s night, celebrating the very best that the Irish construction industry has to offer.”
