The redevelopment of the Adelaide Oval consists of building two new grandstands. The eastern and the southern to complement the new western members’ grandstand, which was previously completed. The hill at the northern end will also have major works completed. Major construction works on this phase of development commenced in the first quarter of 2012
RMD Supplied 200t of Equipment
RMD Australia supplied 200t of Slimshor shoring and Megashor propping system to Manuele Engineers who were the steel fabricating contractor for the Southern Stand roof in the Adelaide Oval Redevelopment.
Slimshor and Megashor Towers
The complex steel roof structure and erection methodology of the single span roof meant the entire roof was to be supported both through the centreline of the roof line by a series of Slimshor towers as well as the front main truss of the structure by three Megashor towers until the last steel element was positioned and bolted prior to total roof de-jacking. All Megashor towers supplied were in the vicinity of 30 metres high.
The size and magnitude of the project can be appreciated from its photograph, as well as the complex steel work carried out by Manuele Engineers who have undoubtedly did an excellent job in carrying out such a complex curved steel structure in a particularly short duration.
