RMD Kwikform provides CPC Civils with a ground shoring solution to support water network expansion
RMD Kwikform, UK leading formwork, falsework and ground shoring supplier, has provided support for a launch pit shaft excavation. This 10m deep excavation is required to facilitate the installation of a new replacement pipeline to be tunnelled under the Shropshire Union canal on the Peckforton to Coopers Green Resilience Scheme for Severn Trent Water.
Part of the works involved installing the shaft launch pit base in preparation for future tunnelling works. Due to this, CPC Civils required a solution that would ensure maximum safety and efficiency on site, which is why they approached RMD Kwikform to supply its new ground shoring fleet. As the only supplier in the market that offers a fully CE-marked ground shoring fleet, it gave the team confidence that the equipment had been designed and manufactured to the highest level of European standards.
Will Roach, Site Agent, said: “My first priority is safety. I want to know that the kit installed on site will ensure the safety of my team at all times, and the fact that the kit is CE Marked helps give us that reassurance.”
RMD Kwikform supplied over 550 pieces of equipment to the site, including products from its Geobrace hydraulic framing and Tubeshor propping range. This solution is the first hydraulic bracing system with a mechanical lock-off system and features seven varying lengths of leg extension. Designed specifically for large excavations, the prop is able to span up to 30metres and will support up to 3000kN in horizontal applications. All of the ground shoring equipment has been designed using Finite Element Analysis and boasts additional stands and stops to ensure the safe handling, assembly and dismantling of equipment.
Commenting on what makes RMD Kwikform attractive as a ground shoring solutions provider, Will Roach, concludes: “I have a very good relationship with RMD Kwikform. They have attracted experts I’ve worked with at other ground engineering companies and knowing the experience they have and the trust I have in the team, it made them the natural choice for our project.”
